Access to Ford spare tire

We have a Lance 1025 on a Ford F350. The spare tire is mounted under the truck bed. To remove it, you insert a crank and lower the tire. However, with the camper on, the crank socket is inaccessible. Does anyone know of a way to get at the spare without raising the camper off the truck?

Curious, while the jacks handles would except or about 3/8" square, how are you inserting the section of jack handle with the 'key' attached?

Even if the jack will lift it, why have that much weight concentrated on such a small footprint? Would not be pretty if jack failed or tipped due to sinking in hot pavement/dirt/etc.

Hi All
I have turned it 90 degrees as the above post mentioned. I access from the passenger rear wheel well. Has worked fine for me. Haven't had flat but have raised and lowered spare when was adding big wig sway bar.

Some people have rotated the spare tire carrier lift 90 degrees so it is accessible from the rear wheel well. My Arctic Fox only hung 2' beyond the rear and could be reached with the OEM extension and crank.

I cut the crank handle and welded a universal joint in the middle. Can now crank from nearly any direction. Universal joints can be found in most tool sections in big box stores.

Yup,take the tire out from under there and mount on the front bumper. We did and used the space for a holding tank as we were short a grey water tank on our old camper.
