Add hose fitting to outdoor shower?

Has anyone added a standard hose fitting to their outdoor shower? I'd like to be able to hose stuff off with my fresh water source if I don't have city water available but wasn't sure if folks have been able to add a y-adapter to keep the shower head and have a hose connection or just remove the shower hose all together.
  • How far do you want to reach? You can buy longer shower hoses and you just swap it for the existing one. Amazon has this one that is 80" long. Problem would be stuffing it back into the shower box. Some owners have made up their own hose extensions like in the photo for ex. A little googling will give some various methods.

  • I have done this on 2 rv's. Both of them worked fine but pressure is low. Don't expect it to be a water blast.
  • I won't repeat what others have said, as you have the solution.
But just in case you return to this thread:
We have found lots of uses to have that adapter to the outdoor shower.
We have a portable outdoor kitchen that we hook up and do all of our dishwashing outside and it is nice to have pressurized hot water available. The hookup uses a garden-sized hose. We also use the adapter as an extension to our outdoor shower tent when we use that. Lots of things you can do with that adapter and a garden hose. Very handy.
  • Good stuff, thanks guys! Guess I've got a project for the weekend! =)
  • I am adding s shut off and garden hose fitting on the end of my cold water low point drain.would work the same but would need 2 plus y- adaptor for warm water while the shower is all set. good idea.
  • This is available in plastic tooI just did this a few days ago. I found an adaptor in my pvc stash that fit directly onto the end of the hose after unscrewing the shower head. The fitting was purchased at Lowes or Home Depot. Take the hose and wand to the store and go to the adaptor section. Mine is plastic. No need to cut, bend or tear. Just unscrew and install adaptor. I too love the new hand sprayer for its force.
  • If I recall correctly, the threaded end of the outdoor shower hose and wand is 1/2" pipe thread. I have two brass adapters - 1/2" FPT x male garden hose and a 1/2" MPT x female garden hose that I use to add a 10 section of FW hose.

Both available at home inprovement centers or a good hardware store
