Does anyone know why Trailer manufacturers put a 13,500 btu air conditioner in a 19 ft trailer.It seems to me to be over kill.I have 10,000 btu in one room (500 sq ft ) in my house and will cool that room down fast.

Air conditioning isn’t just air cooling… it’s conditioned air… a very different thing…
AC’s should be sized for the load and control the humidity for comfortable cooling… in my 20 foot trailer the AC would lower the temp even on a hot 100* day quite quickly but it took forever to make it a comfortably cool and without ducted air the air flow on low was ridiculously uncomfortable all the time and hard to escape it, but slower would not be enough to prevent freeze up…

Forget to turn it on until 3pm on a 100 degree day and you won't think it's overkill. Especially when it takes 4-5 hours to get down to the low 70's. What's wrong with a little extra horsepower to help drop the temp when you pull into camp at 5pm on a Hot Friday afternoon? If it's too cold for you, can't the thermostat be adjusted to your liking? I'm guessing all others complaining about it being too cold, I'm guessing loose the temp setting debate with their significant other and now want oversize ac regulations written in Congress ;-).

It is overkill I always felt like I was in a frozen food locker or frozen wind tunnel depending on where you sat in my 20 foot with it set to low cool… what made it worse is south FL in the summer it cooled too fast and that resulted in cool but humid air…

It’s just another one of those things that make you wonder about the industry…

The list is long.
Your house has an attic - insulated from the roof that has shingles
The walls are 2x6 with added insulation
Your windows are no doubt thermopane
Your house has flooring maybe a basemen and on a foundation not a wheel axle etc etc. etc

AND spend a day parked in the sun in summer down in Florida sometime in your TT......and come 1:00 you will find out real quick that 13,500 ac can't do squat to keep you cool in your TT! :B:W:B

The answer is almost always money.

The insulation is not as much as a home. I suspect that what may seem overkill may be running where it needs to be due to heat loss in very hot summer time
