I will be buying a new set of tires for my van, Costco has a good deal on a set of all terrain tires. My question is do they run any louder or rougher than normal LT tires ?

My wife and I run Nitto Terra Grapplers and Goodyear Duratracs on our trucks (Mine's a 2015 Ram 3500 RC SRW, she has a 2011 GMC 3500 CC), both load range E. Zero complaints with either and the Nittos really last though the Duratrac have the edge in wet traction.

I personally wouldn't put anything but BFG all terrains on anything I own. I've run several sets to 70k miles and could have run them even further. I just put a set of the new tk02's on my daily driver. They grip extremely well in all conditions, no road noise, and as stated....last 70k plus miles. There's not a better all terrain on the market in my opinion.

This One !! Best tires for AT ... been using BFG as long as we've owned trucks (35 years or so)

BTW: Michelin now owns BFG tires (since 1988)

My 2013 GMC 2500HD had Firestone Transforce HT's on it and I just put new Firestone Transforce AT's on it and yes they are louder but not much.

I went from Pirelli ATR's to Goodyear Eagle's on our large SUV. They handle better in the wet and dry. But in snow, dirt, sand...they of course don't compare.

MPG's were unchanged, as was noise. Noise and MPG's depend really on the AT tire, there are so many variables of "AT" tires.

Would I put AT tires on a Van? Depends on the Van and tire being considered.

All depends on the tire brand & the vehicle. I run Hankook ATm LT LR-E tires on both our vehicles and they are a bit louder on the truck, but not noticeable on the Jeep. They will be squirrely the first 800-1000 miles, but then will settle down and you will not notice any difference in ride from your old tires.

been there done that with a nice set of Yokohama's AT design. It was too much with the 5er attached i had to get rid of them and got Micheans. BUT i wish I still had them got rid of them with around 600 miles on them.. NOW you tell me and I took a beating selling them.

Yep, depends on the tire. I put BFG ATs on my last truck, and they were noticeably (but not unreasonably) louder. Mpgs dropped slightly, too.

Some will be a lot louder, it depends on how aggressive the tread is. I also noticed a distinct decrease in steering ability with one brand (General Grabber AT2) on my F-350. It felt like the tires were not gripping the roadway like the original tires. Lost about 1 mpg mileage too.

When I switched to Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/A everything went back to optimal.

My F350 came with all terrains and no they are not loud or rough riding. Only thing are the extreme tires that many lifted vehicles run for 'looks'. You know the ones that are worn out except for the large nubs on the sidewalls.

I have BFG which came with the truck and then replaced with the newer ones that came out. 1st 600 miles they were a little squirmy but are fine after that.
