Am I overloaded?

2014 Ram 1500. Payload 1229 (sad). Gvwr 6900. Gawr 3900 both front and back.

Just truck weight: steer = 3580; drive = 3080; total = 6660

Truck and trailer non distributed: steer = 3360; drive = 3880; trailer = 4060; total = 11300

Truck and trailer distributed: steer = 3520; drive = 3580; trailer = 4160; total = 11260

This was last year so with growing kids and growing bikes I expect an additional 100 lbs or so.

Am I over? Borderline? Time to look for an f150 with payload package? Kick it to 3/4 ton?

    7100 with & 7240 w/o

    BUT you are UNDER Axle ratings ---still have 380/F & 320/R

    More about axle tire ratings then MFG GVWR/Payload Numbers

    Only rating I see that you are exceeding is GVWR. I'm glad to see you have restore almost all front axle weight. How does it tow?

    I towed with a similar half ton at 200-500 pounds over GVWR. As long as the WDH was adjusted well, it was solid at 75mph. I expect the same for you. If you want an excuse to get a new truck, I'd be looking for something with at least 500 more pounds of as equipped payload. That does include some half tons and every 3/4+ ton.

    Zero issues with those weights or even lump some more bikes and firewood on.

    Tows pretty darn well as far as I am concerned! Just towing it around Michigan. WDH is set pretty well I think. I am only towing at 65 max. I don’t really want to get a new truck. I like mine. Was looking at a couple of F150s in the 1700-1900 lb payload range.

    They are e rated Cooper Discoverer AT3.

    I'd go with it until you need/want to get a bigger trailer.

    I had a 97 F150 that had a wimpy #6250 GVWR.. I was over GVWR by some #500 when loaded and towing. But, under all axle ratings and had tires that far exceeded the axle ratings..

    Towed with it for around 12 years with 255,000 miles on it when I traded it for the 13 F150 in my signature.

    Have a bigger trailer now, but I knew I'd be doing that, so that's why I got the new truck when I did.
