Harry, I've been thinking about this and maybe you're overthinking things. Overall it is pretty simple:
The back wall swings out, the bed platform comes down, and the side triangles unfold to fill in the ends.
What is yours NOT doing?
He's completely missing the actual snap-n-nap and needs to recreate one. He's trying to understand how it all deploys in one smooth motion.
The mechanics are really very very simple, it has three hinge points, one at the top of the snap n nap, one between the edge of the bed and the bottom of the snap-n-nap and one in the middle of the bottom of the bed platform.
The example I gave earlier details how to make a really simplified model of the snap-n-nap to help visualize. With luck I will actually get back to mine and resume work on it, at which point I might be able to get some photos.
