Reason is that Chevy hitch/receivers are known to fail in a catastrophic way. I just swapped mine out for a much beefier Curt. The hitch shop that I got it from installed if for $40. The owner who did the work said he is changing his out also. Said there is no comparison between the wimpy oem and the Curt hitch.
