With 5 fam members and dog, wife is not fan of PU. still trying to talk her into that...
As the other two mention, there has been cases of failure on these. Most have been towing heavy. There is also the ability to shift the weight to the front tires with the stock hitch as it does allow some flex.
I decided it was cheap insurance to prevent the end of a vacation.
And in regards to a PU, I still miss my Yukon XL. APT misses his truck.
