Anyone towing heavy with Ram 2500 coil springs.

It seems there is some doubt or reservations out there regarding the new coil spring rear suspension on Rams 2500s.
I know the 3500 with Aisin trans would be a great truck, but it seems the 2500 rides so much better, weighs less and would make a much better daily driver.
I would like to hear some real world experiences from people towing heavier 5th wheels say in the 12-15k lb range. (or more)
Also, anyone carrying a smaller slide in camper in the 2-3k lb range.
Any other comments good or bad on this truck is also appreciated.
  • The RV.net site is messed up tonight, I'm on the Woodall's portal. I can't click on the links as the site they take me to is not responding.

Anyway, I experienced the same amount of rear end sag with the new 2500 as I did with my previous 3500 SRW with the same 5th Wheel RV. The coil springs are very stout.

  • My locomotives and railcars have coil springs. May be carrying a slightly more load than a 2500.
  • Do a search...ib and me have both had a couple of long threads. Also should be a link on this forum in the first few pages about heavy loads on the coil springs...

Bottom line...the springs hold up the weight just fine.
