Arctic Fox 990 Rear step

Hello,
I have a 2009 Arctic fox 990 as you can see by the photo I have to use a bungee cord to Keep it secured in the up-folded position. I was wondering what others have done to secure the steps. If for some reason the bungee cord breaks the steps fall.

  • I disconnect the lower step and carry it inside the TC. Just takes a minute.
  • My 2010 had an extra bracket that yours doesn't appear to have. It'd be real easy to weld one on though. It traveled it's whole life in this position over rough terrain never coming out. I kept the extra pin inside the basement drawer for easy access. I rarely ever used it, just a couple of times when the ground sloped down at the rear. The Fox landing on my newer AF is an amazing upgrade to these old flip steps, especially for towing!

  • Magnets seem like a good idea. Fox landings are nice, pricey though and I believe you have to upgrade to a bumper a accept the landing. Not sure but it might not be able fold it down with trailer hooked up.
