Arctic Fox grey tank connection.

I have a leak where the grey tank vent stack attaches to the top of the tank. It's fumes only at this point - I haven't ever filled it far enough for liquid to get out.
Can anyone tell me specifically how Arctic Fox makes this connection?
Is it glued or is it a rubber grommet?

Thanks,
Scott
  • Thanks OB. I'll give you a jingle Mon.

FWIW, I cut a hole in the back of a cabinet to get a better look. I also cut the stack so I can see if the pipe is loose.
Turns out the fitting going into the tank is loose. They glued it down with some white goop that didn't hold. Maybe it broke loose because the pipe is being pulled sideways slightly and is under a strain. I should be able to correct that.
I can cut another hole in the bottom of the cabinet to get access to the fitting and probably pop it out. Then I need to find something better to glue the fitting in with. Epoxy? Or maybe there's a better fitting.

Jeez this thing has been a pile of junk.

  • That was rather fruitless. The number OB provided is for Northwood Manufacturing.
They told me they use a roof adhesive called "Lino Paste" to glue the ABS fitting to the ABS tank. I have no idea why other than you buy it by the bucket and it's cheap.

I'm going to use a rubber grommet made for this application Link

I can see some other very discouraging details about the way this whole thing was assembled. I'll share them with everyone after I get it apart.

Maybe the worst part is that I can never fill my grey or black tanks. If any of the other tank connections are made the same way it will result in their contents being spilling into the insulation under the floor. Thankfully, I've never gotten the tanks that full.
