Armada need Equalizer for 23 Hybrid?

Good afternoon everyone...sorry but I had to send a post...my apology if the info is here already but I came back a few months ago with my buddy who purchased a Jay Flight 23F or B Hybrid.

Very nice hybrid with slide and three beds that fold out. Very roomy and the quality looks pretty good. The difference between the Hybrid 23 F or B is a few pounds as one has a dinette vs. a couch.

But here is my question as one weighs in at 4174 dry with a hitch weight of 440 and the other with a dry weight of 3995 and a hitch weight of 395. EQualizer regardless......correct for any SUV and or half ton......maybe not a 1/4 ton or 1 ton truck.

I recommended to my friend he purchase a equalizer hitch with the trailer for easier towing all around. The dealer said he did not need one.....playing into the $$$ factor.

Am I wrong?

Yes, he needs a Weight Distributing hitch. Ignore the dry weight. Loaded, his hitch weight will be 500 lbs or more. Without it, he will be unloading the front end too much. The WD hitch restores the weight to the front axle.
  • Check your receiver for a sticker like this one with two tongue weights listed like mine at 600/1000.

Besides the receiver limit, my opinion is that a half ton towing over about 400 pounds TW loses enough front ale weight such that a WDH is beneficial. I recommend one with integrated sway control like Equal-i-zer 4pt or Reese Strait Line
