Awning needs a good cleaning

Hello,

We just purchased a 2006 Jayco Jayflight 25' Travel Trailer and the awning needs cleaning.

I am planning on doing that this weekend.

The condition is good with no rips or tears. Its a manual awning and the frame is solid.

Can I use Dawn dish detergent with a long handled scribe brush?

Is power washing it OK?

I will do both top and under side and let it dry before rolling it back up.

All input is greatly appreciated.

I'll chime in for using the Mr. Clean sponge. I bought the mop one, which comes on a long handle. Let me tell you... no scrubbing or elbow grease needed. It is such a simple solution, we wonder why we ever did all of that scrubbing. LOL

Maybe your awning isn't as dirty as mine was but I had to do some serious scrubbing after rolling it up and letting it sit for a while. I highly recommend getting a revolver brush and using it for scrubbing:

I have had mine for over a year and it holds up very well, it hasn't lost but a couple bristles after a lot of use.

It also works great for showers, sinks and even bug guts!

I use Mean Green straight, rinse off, let dry and use 303 Aerospace Protectant. Helps to keep clean longer and prevent mildew.

Yep. Easiest way to clean it.

I use a mixture of water, some bleach and Simple Green. Very effective.

Don't forget to check your strap if you have one. I had one break as I was pulling mine down last year.

I use dawn and a soft brush with a long handle... I roll out my awning and let it all the way down.

If I have some spots that are hard to get off, then I spray some ''Purple Power'' on the spots and they come off very easy!

Pressure washers and travel trailers are worst enemies....suggest you don't even let them near each other.

Don't use a pressure washer! The above suggestions are great, but I use a soft brush and clorox cleanup spray.

My family and I just acquired a used HTT and when I cleaned the awning, I used a Mr Clean Magic Eraser for the stains that didn't come off with the soap and a brush. Worked like a champ; no more stains!
