Corrugated or smooth outer finish?

I'm planning to replace my current TT. Looking at older ones, it seems that the corrugated aluminum finish holds up better to the weather. Also, it doesn't seem to get those ugly black streaks on it. Any thoughts? Right now I'm undecided, but leaning...
