Ah, you caught that! Yes, interesting indeed.
And also agreed, the whole this is overkill for daily drivers, but may be not so much those who intend to keep their vehicle 200-400k miles.
Its possible that picking a better performing oil off this list for the same cost or less than you're paying today becomes a win-win.
And there some equally interesting some points regarding 5w-30 oils greatly out performing common diesel grades like 5w-40 and 10w-40. While at the same time, may be not enough to suggest switching if your current results are doing just fine.
Regardless of the report/blog, I still rely on UOA's to tell me what I'm doing and choosing is working out well. There will always be a dozen or more fine options at any given grade oil, but one could perform slightly better than another when analyzed after being run in your specific engine and conditions.
