Planning trip to BB this winter, it's new to us, usually go the Florida route. Don't want to stay in the park, like the comforts too much, but want a decent rv park outside of the NP. Any suggestion...

We always stay at Davis mountains state park. About 45 min. From observatory and about 25 min. To Alpine or Marfa. It is a full days trip to big bend national park for hiking.
