Not sure if there was a design change or not but the sewer hose in my 2001 Bigfoot 10.6 Camper does indeed go into the 4"x4" aluminum rear bumper that hangs off the end of my camper. It certainly is a good location for it though I have run into an instance where the hose slides about 18" into the bumper forcing me to have to reach in and try to snake it out (not all that pleasant of an experience to say the least...).
One suggestion worth considering (and mentioned in other threads) consider adding a secondary waste gate valve on your camper that attaches where your sewer hose normally might go (your sewer hose then attaches to the end of the secondary waste gate valve). This gives you a backup just in case one of your other valves fails and also gives you the ability to transfer grey water waste to the black water tank (usually the grey fills long before the black) by equalizing the liquids in both tanks when both primary valves are opened at the same time but keeping your secondary valve closed.
