I wonder how Ram gets access to GM, and Ford sales figures and vice versus ?Charles

There are marketing agencies like Polk that get feeds of registration data from the state DMVs and they use the VINs to track brand and model. That's also how he knows which states they are #1 in.

I couldn't watch the video for some reason, but just a wild guess here
Idaho was a Ram state :W

Ram is number one in Idaho only by those that rode the short bus to school (not an easy stat to track, but its true, I swear). 🙂

That even hurt even over here in WA State!

At the end of the day it really doesnt matter which brand you buy. Just make sure it has a Cummin's engine and you will be fine.:B

Or a Hemi, I have loved both of mine.

Very interesting link for state-by-state comparison. One of those things I wonder about when I travel, you know -- "it seems like there are a lot more **** than I am used to seeing."

We are taking about HD truck sales not grocery getters. So show the comparisons for the big 3 HD trucks.

Correct absolutely no interest. They are concentrating on the Global market for HDT(Which they do not sell in the US or Canada), MDT a Conventional(Global Cabover), considerably lighter version of the Global models is offered and in the US/Canada LDT, Delivery vehicles.
The Tundra and Tacoma are a sideline business for Toyota

Somebody needs their choice in trucks validated.......

I might just buy another GM next time and surprise you. I've owned far more GM vehicles than Dodge/Rams. I don't need anything validated.

Not impressed with your comment either, I thought of you as one that was above that stuff, I guess I was wrong.

I thought we got along fine until I tried to send you a PM a while back, and found out I was off your buddy list......... I have sent you PMs before......I thought of you as one that was above that stuff, I guess I was wrong.

BTW, what gives you the idea I was referring to you? There were several posts in this thread before I dropped that little comment in. If you are not impressed with my comment maybe some inner reflecting is in order.....jus' sayin'. 😉

If they thought there were profits to be made, a Tundra diesel dually would be on the market by now.

My current preference is towards Rams but I still want GM and Ford to continue to build great trucks. Everyone wins with competition in the truck market. I wish I could have waited to buy, the new 2013s are SWEET!!

I would be interested in seeing DIESEL sales numbers. Nobody breaks that out that I have seen recently. The last real #s I saw were Ford 51%, GM 25%, and Dodge 24% in 2500/3500 series pickups. No idea what they are now.

If I did the math right from this article then in 2012

Ford sold 81,150 -- 38.93%
RAM sold 65,946 -- 31.63%
GM sold 61,355 -- 29.43% (this number is probably a little lower I used 55%)

Of course the original data may be flawed, but I think it is reasonable close to what is going on.

I find it interesting the GM has the lowest uptake on the diesel engines by a margin. Not surprising is the high uptake numbers on the Cummins.
