We have the dinette with a booth on either side of the table.
Both of them have storage under them. One is a storage compartment that is accesed by an outside door and is perfect for my weight distribution bars, sway bar and water hoses and the other is a large drawer that pulls out from the inside and my wife keeps all the pots and pans in it.
I am curious with you who have a table and chairs: what keeps the chairs from moving around when you are traveling and if they are attached to the floor wouldn't that be a pain if you wanted to move them around.
To the OP, I would suggest that you stay with the as is situation and if there is not storage under the benches, make some yourself
