Brake Adjustment Question

I remember when cars had drum brakes on the rear you would tighten the wheel all the way until you could not spin the tire and then back off a couple turns until free.

Do the breaks on a TT adjust the same?

Yup, that's the way to do it. Then drive down a gravel road at about 20 MPH and apply the trailer brakes manually - you should be able to lock them up.

Make sure nobody is behind you first!

I then get out with TT still in middle of road and make sure ALL wheels are sliding. That way I know all brakes work. I do it at start of each new trip year (so once in spring).

Bet there are some roads near you that look like teenagers had the time of their life:B

  • Basically yes. You will need to back off more than a couple of clicks. Mine usually get 4-5 clicks. Any more and the brakes seem weak. But you will need to try and see what works on your trailer.
