Bully Dog watch dog monitor

I've got an Edge Insight on my Chevy and when OnStar was active, it could tell that I had something connected to the port. But it cannot void warranty since it is only a reader of existing data. Also, what can be displayed is determined by the available PIDs and that depends on manufacturer, model and year. I can read MPGs, both instantaneous and average, but the average is a rolling average, not a cumulative average if that makes sense. I don't know the number or frequency of sampling and can't get a trip average mpg. Not sure about displaying gear selected, but if I put the Allison in Manual rather than Drive, then the gear selector display shows which gear the transmission is in.

I also like the Ultra Gauge for a good OBDII reader, it's a bit cheaper than the BD WD. Their website will tell you what you can see on your truck.

From what I see, neither Ultra Gauge or Bully Dog can monitor as many parameters or display as many values at one time. The Insight is monitoring DPF soot level, EGTs, DEF level, DEF pump pressure, plus usual items like boost, mpg, etc. I'm monitoring 8 parameters. It also can check injector balance rates. Both web sites provide a list of parameters that might be available, but again the actual list is brand, model and year specific. Not all parameters listed are guaranteed available, but there may also be other unlisted parameters. Best to call the manufacturer for more details on what is available for a specific vehicle.
