buzzing noise thru speakers

2007 lance 815

Okay so i connected my tv to the rv stereo and the sound is great, except there is an annoying hum coming through the speakers. does anyone know how to remedy this?

My connections are as follows:

TV to 400watt inverter. tv rca jacks to the stereo aux port.
  • Thanks for everyone's help! I tried a different inverter i had in my garage and the problem has stopped.

i went from a 350watt radio shack model to a 400watt black & decker. Once again thanks for all the advice
  • Or get a 12v TV...why waste the power going though an inverter?

A cheap MSW type INVERTER will cause noise in your audio circuits. May also show up as lines in the TV signals as well.

We only use PSW TYPE Inverters here for any electronics being used. Then we don't have to worry about what we plug into the Inverter circuit.

x2 I had the same issue.

okay apparently it is the inverter because when hooked directly to off shore power the buzz stops. any solutions when off shore power isnt available?

Your solution is to replace your inverter with a Pure Sign Wave inverter. Or do what I did - stopped watching TV

  • The TV is not 12v?

If not...I would guess you need a better quality inverter to eliminate the "noise" in the system from using a 120v TV.
  • I don't have an inverter but we get a hum through our converter.
  • Try to run your set-up off shore power to see if inverter is adding unwanted noise to your audio output.
