Cable Slide Adjustment Question

Since I owned my trailer the slide has moved a bit awkward and wiggly. The inside (move the slide in) cables were horribly loose. I tighten both the in and out cables. 8 in all. The cable tension screws and chain tensioner are all at about equal thread lengths. Per the instructions on line form the installation and adjustment manual I have the cables with the 1/2 inch up and down movement/slack on the outside cables when out and on the inside cables when in. I followed the instructions to a t. The slide is smoother and tighter and generally operates more solid and much better. My question is, now it creeks a lot more than it did when it was all loosey goosey. and it comes from the left side. Should I be worried. Is it going to rip a pulley out or snap a cable. Again the opposing cables have a good 1 inch of total slack while in or out. The tension on the top and bottom cables of all 4 are also equal tension. Should I worry? Thanks everybody! Much appreciated.
  • That's exactly what it sounds like. Never thought. And since the slide is probably aligned more properly it increases the seal. Thanks a ton. I'll do em up real good with 303 and see.
  • The cables move it in and out but do the weight bearing pieces need lubrication? I don't know your slide system but maybe you can determine what is making the noise by having someone operate the slide while you get your ears & eyes closer to the noise. My slide has squeegee type seals that remove debris & moisture from the top & sides as it moves. Could these be the source of the noise? I use Aerospace 303 protectant to make the wall slicker and reduce the squeegee friction.
