Camper jacks....Electric or Manual???

It is certainly worth having electric jacks. The question is, is their financial benefit to having them installed aftermarket. Also, you could consider the stablelift.

No way no how would I want to walk around my tc doing a few cranks at a time even with an electric drill vs pushing one button and having the electric motors quickly do all the work. It would be a total non starter with my wife too.

I jack by hand every time. Takes a while, but what else is there to do when you're semi retired.Some guys go to the gym.

I'm tired of my hydraulic jacks. They have some advantages, but I'm done with them.

If you like to go cheap, and batteries and cords are not your friend, stay with hydraulic. They provide very well.

If you can afford a bit more, and you like convenience over cost, electric is the best. It cuts the time to one quarter of hydraulic in most cases.

Do you like circle work? Get a crank handle and go around each leg and crank each one 10-12 times, until you camper to the height of your tuck bed to load, you will go around about 9-12 times
For each leg to raise camper 29-31 inches, drive you truck underneath, then go around again leg by leg, 10-12 cranks x 9-12 times each leg, to lower back down on your pickup. . Takes 30-45 minutes.
Or you get electric legs, 12-15 minutes for the whole thing.

In Conclusion, GO. ELECTRIC. . . . . .

I would say it depends on how often you want to load and unload.
I have electric jacks on my current popup, and I had them on the hardwall I owned before that.
I don't do a lot of loading or unloading. Currently, I put the camper on the truck in spring and take it off in fall. If I had to decide again, I would probably just get normal crank jacks and 2 electric drills. The electric jacks are pretty heavy, and I have had a fair share of problems with one of them recently - eventually I ended up hand-cranking, as the motor had seized.

If I was to load/unload more frequently, I would definitely go with the electric jacks.

I do, every time. There's just something about being all sweaty and hot, and grabbing my crank in my hand. It's really hard... well, that is to say, it's USUALLY pretty hard. It gives me something to do with those spare couple of minutes it takes to get the job done.

When I'm in my fifth wheel, I'll go around to each leg five or six times...back and forth, over and over. I've gotten my movements down to a science. It's become a habit, really.

I've thought about getting some of the new battery-powered technology, or even hiring someone else to do all the work. But in the end I always end up using my right hand (unless it's getting tired or taking longer than usual, in which case I switch to my left), doing that repetitive circular motion I've come to know so well.

Just a few days ago I watched a guy a couple of rows over using some motorized contraption as I was busy putting my own hand to good use. Looked like a waste of good money to be honest.

Maybe when I get a little older I'll think about changing my ways.

We have had manual and have had electric.

Now have electric on a pretty heavy TC and have to go up to almost full jack extension to clear the pickup bed- too high to be cranking.

I don't want to crank.
