I don't rely on the rubber bumpers on the camper. I've seen cases of them damaging the truck bed.

I also us a piece of lumber as my spacer. It's a 2x6 cut down to about 4 1/2" in width, with two of them stacked on top of each other, wrapped in a piece of carpet.

I used a piece of pressure treated 1x4 to give me the clearance required for my tail lights. For my application, it leaves me with a fat 1/2" of space. I like the TC as close to the front as possible.

People with better math skills than me have posted the weight transfer difference of up to 3" or 4" and it usually results is axle weight change of 100 - 200 lbs. KIS, in your particular case, your truck won't even feel that.

The campers are manufactured so that when the camper is all the way forward in the bed the center of gravity is directly over the rear axle. This works if you put a long bed camper in a long bed truck and a short camper in a truck with the standard bed.

We have a P.T. 2x4 (standing on its 2" side) with 3/4 " rubber front and back up against the front of the bed.

That's plenty of truck for that camper no matter where you put it.
I would want it as far forward as possible. I removed the front rubber spacer blocks on my camper and made a custom spacer. It put the camper an inch or or 2 further forward. I still wish I had more weight on the front axle but I can't do much about it.

I have a 2006 Palomino Maverick 1000 on a 8' chevy 3500 DRW. No weight problem that I know of. Have driven truck with camper on it. Just set it on truck to see what was needed.

Actually, you would want it as far forward as possible in the bed in most cases. Is there a weight distribution problem that is giving you too much front axle weight? Most people don't have that problem. I have mine spaced back a bit but it is out of necessity, as the rear kickouts will hit the taillights if I don't.

I use a 2 X 4, flat, as a spacer. So, I'm roughly 4" from the actual front of the bed and about 2" from the lip of the bed.
