camper radio alarm??

I was hooked up to my generator yesterday, just to check things out. And this "alarm" sound started coming out of the radio, while it was off. But it was not out of the speakers. Just the radio itself. I unplugged the camper and it stayed on. Then I removed the radio and unplugged it from the wire harness, and it was still ringing for about 5-10 secs, and then went off. When I plugged it back, it came back on... I removed the 12volt fuse and it did the same thing. When I put the same fuse back in, it was not ringing. Since then no ringing. Everything works fine including the radio itself... what was this and what caused it???
  • Does it have a clock and alarm function ? if so it may have battery backup in case power goes out. Check for batteries, keep in mind it may have the watch type batteries. The alarm you heard may be indicating the batteries are going bad.
  • yes it does have an alarm, didn't think of the battery back up??
and while it was on generator it did loose power (breaker tripped on gen). when i plugged back in to shore power it still stayed on till i pulled the fuse. if it does have a battery in the radio, it's 6 years old now.... i'll check it tonight.
  • My radio/entertainment system beeps whenever I press a button on the remote. Otherwise I've never heard any noise come out of it. Could something have been laying on top of the remote?
  • i checked that too.... what baffles me is, it was coming out of the radio, not the speakers... is there a warning buzzer inside the stereo itself, cause that's where the noise was coming from????
  • Mine has an alarm also that does not emit from speakers, but radio itself. Found that out by accident one morning at about 3 am. Turned it off by beating every button in the dark until it shut up. Turns out one if us had inadvertently turned alarm on that was set to a factory pre-set time. On/off feature was not obvious. Check radio owners manual maybe?
