Camper tie down location?

I purchased an older used camper that was bolted on to the previous owners truck bed floor. I would like to fill the bolt holes & tie the camper down with the regular tie downs. What & how is the best way to install tie downs ON the camper itself?
  • '88 - yep would look just under the edge of the side. Should be about 1/2" inward and about 12-18" back from the front corner. Not sure how far from the front the rear point would be.

Most manufacturers put a metal plate of some sort in the wall which is what the eyebolt screws into. The plate usually accepts a 3/8" eye bolt.

Hopefully someone with a Hallmark will chime in. You could get the information from Hallmark since they are still in business. http://www.hallmarkrv.com/
  • I apologize, it is a 1988 Hallmark pop up. Hope this helps a little more
  • Without knowing the make or year, it's hard to identify where the original tie down points were located. First place to look would be for a filled hole just under the edge of the sides of the camper. The previous owner may have filled it will silicon, putty, or maybe even a bolt of the correct size.

If it's a real old camper like in the seventies, the tie down point for the front could be directly above the truck frame rails on the bottom of the cab-over. Our old Franklin was set up this way where the chains ran down between the cab and the bed, attaching directly to the frame.
