Campsite Lighted Sign Post

Latest project, after seeing a few various iterations of of campsite signs and holders/stands I wanted to take a stab at our own version. The design, like all great designs, began of course on a napkin. I have seen several of these PVC lampposts that utilize a standard lamppost style light. I wanted to go a different route, and have something with a unique look and rustic class. That is how we try to approach all of camping related items.

Anyway, it's design is simple and of course it's just pvc and mdf. Primer rattle can and then hammered bronze for the base, gloss black for the post. The light began as a pendant light kit from the big orange store. Wired that into a dusk/dawn photo eye so it is plug it and forget it. Then wired to a 15' extension cord from there. The globe is just an old mason jar with the lid drilled to accept the pendant light socket. The bulb (40W) is one of those cool old fashioned filament style bulbs.

The sign I can not take credit for, that is from Wood Signs of Gatlinburg. Man they do nice work.

The holes in the base are for 12 inch spikes, though now that it's all together it seems pretty stable.
