can't find the satellite, first time ever
I just hooked up my Dish 311 receiver, a replacement for the one I've used since 2004. I cannot find satellite 110 or 119. I have been doing this for years and helped other people get theirs going but...

with dishnetwork, there is more than one satellites at each location of 110 and 119 (but they work together so it appears as one), and they never go off line.
as to the original posters problem, I really can't add anything. you did the switch test so the receiver knows what switch you have. Some times I have had to put foil over one side of the LNB to find the correct sat on the correct LNB, but you will know that is the problem if you receive one but not the other.
plus I recommend Satellite AR on the android phone. it shows you exactly where "any visible space junk" or the space stations passes as you sit around the fire at night.
and yes the 311 is end of life. as OP said, they sent him a new receiver, which is probably a 211, not a 311.
