- SWoop2247ExplorerThanks everyone.
I will look at the gas shocks as well. - Chris_BryantExplorer III’ll also point out extension is due to the gas springs. They do go bad.

I seem to have to "help" our awning when we start extending it outward.
Is this normal?
Is your battery low? These awnings operate on 12 volts, low voltage will cause them to stall on extension or retraction.
Definitely not low. - Chris_BryantExplorer IIThere is a cam type helper for metal wrapped awnings- it goes around the awning tube, and kicks it out as it rotates.
- Dukecity426ExplorerI use slide-out lube for all the hinged and sliding parts. I also use the slide-out lube on the gas cylinder if so equipped.

If yours is having a binding issue, between mounting brackets and arms, you may be able to push the whole assembly (while extended) in the direction needed, to relieve the bind. I had to do this once, after the wind had pushed it out of alignment.
The electric motors on these awnings do not have much torque/power.
Jerry - GrandpaKipExplorer IIMine was squeaking a bit. Hit it with some silicone spray. All’s quiet now.
- Chris_BryantExplorer III use LC Wax Alumaslick for awnings of all types.
