Cargo Carrier for Lance 830

Hi all,
Anyone have any suggestions for a rear cargo carrier, hitch mounted, for a Lance 830? I measured and the 830 hangs over the rear of truck 26" which is too long for a 18" hitch extension.

I really don't want to take off the factory hitch and replace with a Titan or Torklift.

I need a 22" hitch extension, combined with the added 4" a standard tray adds, to clear the rear of the camper, so that the cargo tray doesn't hang under the rear 4".

The folding trays seem to have longer shanks, and might work with a 18" hitch extension.

    I would just not do it. To much can go wrong. The bonce of the carrier is far more severe that just the weight of a trailer. But here is an idea that will work. Have a 2 inch x 8 inch receiver welded to each side of the cross tube of your existing hitch. Now use those two receivers to connect your carrier to. Yes you will need two addition 2inch tubes attached to the carrier. I did that with my 1040. I can carrier hundreds of pounds without worry.

    I just need to carry some folding chairs and a barbq, maybe 150 lbs max? maybe some firewood also?

    Its 150 times length that is the problem. You could try a front hitch or ladder carrier for chairs.

    A hitch haul has a 2" box tube bolted under it that slides into the truck hitch , remove it and replace it with a longer piece of box to extend it back .
    For more stability what I did on one that I used behind the camper like that was add some light chain or cable and turnbuckles from the rear most corners of the hitch haul up to the jack brackets on the camper, that took the side to side slop out and it made a nice platform at the rear of the camper
    If you just use the hitch haul without the extention under the camper you can still get chairs and extra junk in it

    I bought a front mount receiver hitch and put my cargo carrier on the front of the truck. Many TC people do the same. Actually lowers the weight on the rear and makes so you don't have to mess with it getting in and out of your camper. I have zero complaints with this setup. My Curt front receiver hitch which bolted into factory holes cost me 115 dollars delivered to my front door and about a hour to bolt on. I put my 3000 eu generator on it and other gear.

    I use a long extension I had made and I have no issue at all. Can't remember the length but it comes to the end of my camper. I too just use it for chairs and leveling blocks. I have also not used an extension and placed the basket under the rear over hang. Works well if you don't have tall things to carry.

    The 830 has a rear overhang skirt around the back and side wings that has nothing inside it, and is just a skirt to make the camper look better. Your hitch hauler could go in the factory truck hitch with no extension and the wood and chairs under the camper like H2O mentions. Lots of room under there. Superhitch or left and right receiver tubes as suggested above would eliminate any worry instead of using a single 2" tube in the stock receiver.
