Caulking Coachmen 25RKS

Hi,
We have a Coachmen 25RKS Pull behind and would like some feedback on the best caulking for all areas of trailer. No leaks yet but we bought used. It is a 2006 model. Trailer is like new and we took trip to Loretta Lynn Ranch last year no problems.
We think it is looking like time to recaulk and want to do professional job. Do we remove old caulk or just add new over old?
Also, what is best product?
Thank you for help. Joan and Don in Pascagoula.
  • Dicor or Proflex
"self-leveling" for the horizontal areas like the roof and regular for vertical seams.
  • Thanks for reply.
Will I need to remove old caulk or just cover existing or use my better judgement on each situation?
  • Use painters tape demark the sides, it will look neater. That proflex is sticky & gets everywhere
  • I've inspected the Roof of every RV we've owned yearly. Sometimes more often. A Self Leveling Silicone made for a Rubber roof is probably your best bet. I've always used White so I can see any separation. On the Side walls I actually remove as many of the doors, lights etc. and re-caulk them with an exterior sealing Putty, the same type product used when manufactured. Afterwards I use a pure White Silicone for a finished look. Again, the same way it's done when manufactured. This trailer is around for the long haul. Wax on, Wax off....
  • I use dicor self leveling. Inspect and touch up as needed 2 or 3 times a year.
