champion 100263 3400 watt inverter/generator question

i pulled the trigger on a new champion 100263 3400 watt inverter/generator this week. got it yesterday. i plan on doing the 5 hour engine breakin tomorrow. i prefer to use propane more than gas bu...

The Champions rate their generators for loudness only at 25% load. Honda and Yamaha rate them at 1/4 and full load.



From their respective manufacturers websites:

The Champion 2000 watt Inverter Generator is rated 53db @ 23 feet
The Honda 2000 watt Inverter Generator is rated at 53 db at 1/4 load

Why would the Champion become twice as loud at full load if both start off at the same level?
