Did you read the reviews on Amazon.com?

I noted the reviews there, but it was a tiny sample so I took them with a grain of salt. - gboppExplorerI don't have one but, I am considering it for the S&B, not camping.

Yes, they are more expensive.
They are also quieter and far more durable. I've spoken at length with dealers of the various portable inverter/generators and even those that sell the Champion exclusively hem and haw when you ask pointed questions.
They are indeed noticeably louder than their comparable Honda/Yamaha counterparts - I'm not 'that guy' at the campground that runs his noisy generator right up until generator quiet hours. Alternately, I've walked by campsites running Hondas and you can't even really hear them.
The 2800 and 2400 Yamaha models are really nice and split the difference between the Honda and Champion price points.
