What OBD code did they say came up?
Go to an Autozone, Oreilly's and have them read the code.

Computer boards in vehicles are expensive and you have to get them installed by the dealer. The one that controls my remotes went out (that's all it does is the remote) - $600 to replace. I just unlock the doors with the key now.

Personally, I'd still rather replace the main board in mine for $700 than buy a new vehicle for $40K.

My 2016 GMC with 4,000 miles had the computer go bad.

Why sell it now? You have barely used 25% of the drive train life.
Although if it seems to run fine I might be inclined to get a second opinion of a trusted source.

I like to trade mine in when the tires wear out. Keeps my money in my pocket. 700$ is 1 truck payment. Wow

My Wife's 2003 RAV 4 had the computer that controls the transmission go out... (it had about 120,000 miles on it) $700 to replace that and have it programmed by the dealer.. I found on the Interweb where I could get the comp for less, but it still needs to be programmed by the dealer... So, I just took it in, picked it up the next day and paid the bill...

Anyway, I had a 97 F150 and it had 255,000 miles on it when I traded it for the 13 F150.. Never a problem with the computers.

So many electronics on these vehicles now, it's a wonder we get to work on a daily basis!!

If you just want to get a new truck, then get it! That's what I did.. Nothing wrong with the 97, mechanically when I traded it... I was just wanting the new gen of truck! I wish I could have kept the 97 too, but no room to store it..

If the computer was bad, I would expect much more than a check engine light. As in, it probably wouldn't even run.

Something smells fishy....

I'd certainly get a second opinion.

When my light came on the engine had stumbled a couple times, but ran fine after. Took a couple days to get the computer in and the truck ran fine during the wait. This was under warranty so the dealer wasn't getting into my pocket. OnStar sent an email telling me critical error code and must be serviced soon.

The Tech said it shorted every thing out. I asked "Why does it still run good? "
He said "**** happens" This was at the Ford Dealership in Yuma

Ever thought you would be labeled to what locals Yuma call "winter visitor"? That's code talk for "let us fix it no matter the cost, because we know you won't be back". See if "Franklins tire service" also garage will pull codes for you. Can't remember the street but just down from Navy Federal credit union.

If they get same codes then look into what is causing them. Probably something simple like ground or connection. They might let you overnight in parking lot if you ask nice. Good people but don't know squat about diesel, but they admit it:)

Very poor service from Yuma dealers especially at height of snow bird season, and they know they are the only ones around. That was my experience anyways.
