There are different requirements or best tuned intake needs between a gasser vs diesel
Diesel has no throttle, so it needs to have as open as possible...whereas with a
gasser and a throttled intake, it needs are way different during low rev's or
power situations
So, not comparing apples to apples between a gasser's intake needs vs a diesel's
Keeping the intake as cool as possible, with-in it's spec temp range is always
best....they why of an inter-cooler exists for forced fed...even diesel
*ANY*
intake system that ingests engine bay air is not worth
the money or time. Reference above about getting the coldest air
Been there done that during my 20's trying most all available low restriction
intake air filters. Good old OEM for me and if available, get the HD versions
From my 64' MGB's side draft Webbers w/o any filters to my Dune Buggy w/o filter.
Not worth the engine rebuilds that caused or contributed to...
Some OEM are not good enough, but that is on a individual basis, IMHO. As stated
above, today's OEM's do a pretty good job of it and as much as folks complain
about CAFE/EPA/etc requirements...they all also improve the breathing (in and out)
of our vehicles today
There are none that I liked and made my own...just because I wanted to...
