Okay... forgive me if this has been addressed. I did a search and couldn't find anything.Do you cook in your TT? Besides pooping, I want to be able to cook in our TT. (We haven't bought one yet. Still researching.) But when I mentioned this to friends, nearly all of them said I DON'T want to do that. If I cook, I'm told, my entire TT will smell like that food forever. !?! What?They all say they use the microwave... or a grill outside. They MIGHT use the stovetop but never anything greasy or pungent. And NEVER the oven. Really? Is smell REALLY an issue??My husband agrees with them, not wanting the TT to smell like pizza or whatever forever. He said we'll just bring pre-prepared meals and heat them up in the microwave or cook on the grill. What do YOU guys do?

The last 3 winters we have travelled for 5 months at a time in our current trailer. We cook whatever we want inside. We use the stovetop and the oven and the microwave. We have no problems with lingering odour. We also use the toilet and shower.As well - we do the same thing at home in our house.We bought the trailer to live in and enjoy.

I cook in ours virtually all the time - we don't grill out much, actually. Open all the windows and use the fan over the stove, and you can keep the rig smelling pretty fresh most of the time. Not a problem.

It's a good excuse to not cook if you don't want to. :DA TT is not going to have any more issues with cooking odors than a house does. Sure, if you cook bacon and don't ventilate (either a house or a TT) you can smell it when you come back in. But if you are sensible and use the range hood and/or open a door/window, you will not have a food odor problem.I've cooked many meals in a RV and have never had an issue with food odors in my clothes, bedding, towels or any other part of the RV.And just like your house, if you do a half-azzed job of cleaning up, you will be able to smell it. You have to wash the dishes & wipe down the counters, table, and range top, just like at home. But if you clean up, the odors will not be hanging around. If you put something with a strong smell in the trash, promptly take it to a dumpster. We always used small trash cans with a double layer of (free) plastic shopping bags for liners.

My Opinion we bought our trailer to live in while we are visiting places. We cook, clean, sleep, use toilet just like we did at home. That why they make air wick to make it smell pretty. If it is good weather we will cook outside and eat.

We have an outside kitchen so we cook there, on the grill or over the fire. We have cooked inside a time or two if the morning temps have been around freezing.

I'll tell you it was a lot of fun testing our options last year (our rookie RV year). We won't do bacon inside again, but the oven tests with fresh cookies were a hit. And the crock-pot is a winner too.

I like grilling and we do a lot of foil-pouch creations for side dishes, so now we've moved away from much dinner "cooking" indoors. But breakfast almost always includes some indoor cooking for us.

I will warn you to do test runs of new toasters outside (or at home) so any fumes burn off and don't trigger your smoke detector. And if you have hook-ups, most TT's have outdoor outlets that make using an electric cooking appliance easy if you have a portable table.

This year we've had 2 "driveway camping" experiences at friends' properties. This meant we had an easy walk to the full amenities of the (unoccupied) homes. Out of 10 dinners, only 1 was prepared inside the home. The rest were out by our TT.

One of the reasons we got the travel trailer was to be able to cook when we wanted indoors. When it is just the wife and I, we cook inside mostly, but when others are along, we tend to cook outside. We have the outdoor BBQ, stoves, etc. We even have a screen tent so we can enjoy cooking and eating outdoors without all the bugs (seems yellow jackets come out in full force mid July on)..

It really is a personal preference, but we (as many others have already said) bought our trailer to use.

My tiny camper doesn't have a hood fan that vents to the outside. Neither do I have fans in my roof vents. Because of this, we cook everything outside, except what's cooked in the microwave (unless it's raining). We also brew our coffee inside, because we make it up the night before and we don't want ants getting into it overnight.

Your friends are misinformed. I've boiled blue crab inside I've cooked bacon, I've fried fish, I've boiled pasta and cooked a pizza in the oven - no lingering smells. I do have a hood range vent that vents to the outside which I would not be without though. I'm glad your not concerned about "pooping" in it...
