Anyone got any experience or know of having these tires ,its time for new ones . Have never run a Cooper tire . Heard good things , as long as I can get some decent mileage out of them with some fifth wheel towing I would be happy ,that ,and they are quiet .

I really don't think you'll have any issues with them.

Thanks. Im thinking Iโ€™m going to see pretty much the same thing I saw with the Toyo , possibly a few more miles.

The Toyo AT3 tread design is much better than the AT2 for about everything, they certainly grip better and move more water and slush out than the 2's did. However they would likely be a little louder due to the more open tread design. I don't have an issue with it, I would say I don't notice any real road noise at all and I have them on a DRW, but such things are subjective. My only question is how long they will last, as I stated, so far mine are doing fine. A buddy of mine has them on a Ram 3500 SRW and they were wore out way before the mileage wear out warranty and got another set at a reduced price. We will see how this newest set does. I would put a shout out on the Falcon Wildpeaks as well. Really good tire.

Ha, go figure, tire experiences are like any other subjective discussion!
I thought AT2 and AT3 toyos were both very quiet. Better traction in snow with the 3s
Mine were on half tons. The 2s were P rated. 3s were E load range.
The 3s got replaced with G2 Terra Graps and those were immediately louder. Not bad, but BFG ATKO loud.

@cummins2014, I only had โ€œregularโ€ Cooper AT3s, on a F250. But the tread pattern appears identical on the XLTs. They were quiet and very well composed IMO.

The worst tires I have run for rocks were the Goodrich Ta's. These Toyo's I have don't seem too bad . These Cooper AT3 XLT's look like pretty much the same 5 rib AT tires that most of them are like the Toyo's.

I think I will give these XLT's a shot, is it the XLT's you have had or just the AT3's ?

My Toyo Open Country A/T III like to pick up rocks too and they are noisier than I was expecting too.

They handle fine and do well in the snow but I wont buy a second set of them.

Those AT3 Toyo's look a bit similar to the Goodrich TA's . Definitely a bit different tread pattern then the AT2 Toyo's . The thing I do like is my AT2's are quiet . They never changed that I could tell as they wore down.

What was the not happy with them. ? It seems no matter what tire , they don't seem to make everyone happy ,some loved them ,some hated them .

What I found that really surprised me is the Firestone Transforce ,they came OE on my truck, other then they were shot at 28K they were okay . Most that had them experienced the same results . But I have read when the Transforce is brought up how crappy they are ,some just love them, and wouldn't have anything else .

So I am always curious when I hear not happy . I can say that to some extend my present tires the Toyo's AT2's as expensive as they are , not overly happy with them . I thought maybe I would see a bit better mileage out of them . Other then that they were quiet ,handled well ,and never got out of balance . But my truck went thru the OE's pretty quick, Toyo's did better then that, they are my second set on this truck. If the next set do better or the same as the Toyo's then I know that's what I will have to live with .

The set I had was hard to keep in balance, I had to balance them every time I rotated them. If I did'nt they would vibrate.

The other thing was that when they were about half way worn the rubber compound seemed to change, they seemed to get hard, it was really noticeable on wet roads. They also started to cup and get very noisey.

As I said some like them ,some don't . Its been more favorable reviews than not. How long has it been since you bought the Coopers . The ones I am thinking about came out in 2018 , the AT3 XLT . I see your truck is a 2016 ,just wondering if it wasn't just the AT2, or 3's , you said your previous truck in your other post ??

That seems odd having to rebalance after rotating, you would think if they needed balancing would not matter what position they were in . Years ago I took the truck in for rotating ,and I asked to have them rotated ,and balanced . The owner of the shop I have been going there to this day for some of my tires ,he asked me do they need to be rebalanced , I said no ,I just thought you were supposed too . He said they are wearing fine ,do they feel out of balance ,I said no . He told me leave them alone .

I can't remember the last time I had a set of tires rebalanced , I don't even bother to have the shop rotate anymore ,I do all my own rotating . I would rather not have them put an air gun to my wheels . I have watched too many of them hit those lug nuts with the air gun , and then watched them go thru the motions of torquing , and it was obvious those lug nuts were not moving , already over torqued . All they were getting was the click .I cross my fingers when I get new tires .

GY Duratracs, great traction rain snow mud. Decent treadlife. Worst noise short of Boggers or Swampers. And they are hard to keep wearing even from a tread feathering standpoint.
Recent example 28k on my Trailboss. Tires are well under half worn. Have rotated them twice and due for a third time. I think the particular shape of the tread blocks is just not conducive to smooth west on steer tires.
AT3s good all around does everything well but not superior in any category. And very quiet.
Toyo AT2/3 great tires. Probably my favorite for a not too aggressive AT. Basically the same as a Cooper AT3 but little better foul weather traction.
Terra Grap G2, best bang for the buck in a fairly aggressive AT. (Of the tires Iโ€™ve run). Slightly louder than the coopers or toyos. And much cheaper than toyos. At least a couple years ago they were.

The most useless tires on the road, IMO, except for aggressive looks and long wearing, are Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Toyo RTs. Target market is brodozers IMO.
Our brodozer came with almost new RTs. They are wearing great both treadlife and wearing smooth. Not too loud. But no better than a pavement pounder tread in snow.
So not useless I suppose. Just not for me. May be one of my top picks if I didnโ€™t drive in snow or rain often. The tread designs on those tires are also bad at ejecting water. They hydroplane quicker than most tires. Itโ€™s evident theyโ€™d be bad at controlling water just looking at the treads.

Thanks for the review . I bought the Toyo's because a friend had them on his truck, and they were quiet running , and he didn't have any thing bad to say about them

I see you mention how noisy or quiet some of these brands are . Whats your take on the Cooper AT3 XLT's compared to the Toyo AT2's ,the ones I have as far as road noise ? As said I before ,other then I THOUGHT I would get a few more miles on them then I did, but not that disappointed as far as the overall performance . I mostly concerned with a decent tire ,that does not sound like an airplane coming in for landing :B I ran enough of those old pizza cutters ,and the old Armstrong Tru-tracks back in the day to know I don't want to listen to a tire like that anymore . That and the Armstrongs took a mile or two to get round again in cold weather .:)

I tried a set of AT3 XLTs several years ago. I couldn't get them to balance even after swapping out two of them. I ended up with Nitto Terra Grapplers. Now I'm going to try the Coopers again as the Nittos simply have no grip for my application.

I later learned that the vendor I used may have had unreliable tire balancing equipment.

I drive a lot of miles typically and a lot of different trucks and different tires. More than the average weekend warrior RVer. And lots of different conditions. From AZ in the summer to AK in the winter and most all conditions in between. So this is what Iโ€™ve seen with truck tires.

The TOYO AT3 is a lot better tire than the AT2 in my opinion. Excellent on ice and decent in deeper snow. I have about 20K on a 3500 DRW. They seem to be wearing OK so far, even with spending most of its time loaded down.
