Could this engine find it's way into a HD Toyota pickup?

Developed by Toyota, now set up for marine applications. What's to say that Toyota might have bigger plans for this V-8 diesel.

Our dentist has a diesel Land Cruiser, not the new one but one of the old FJ40s in perfect condition. He found it up in Canada, looks like it was driven off of the showroom yesterday. Beautiful, and it sounds so good. I do not like envy but boy would I love to own that vehicle.

Not really. Different badge, but still a Toyota:

You get a lot of Hino Trucks in Australia. F150's, RAM's and Silverado's/GMC's Pickups are as rare as hens teeth.
We get Class 8 Japanese Trucks, non-existant in the US/Canada, but probably the most popular HDT trucks in New Zealand. More Middle Ranking here.

They are used in the Australian Toyota Land Cruiser. Only place on earth to use them as such. Very very Popular

If I one day go back to diesel, it will be another Cummins Ram. I like the Tundra. Nice truck in every way but my Rams all treated me well minus a little driveline vibe.

I think because of its HP/Torque ratings it would not stack up marketing wise. Capabilities mean nothing to the general public. It is all about what you can say in a commercial. 370HP puts it last (I think) behind the big 3 offerings.

I would love to own a Toyota Hilux diesel for some fun. To bad there are as rare as hens teeth.

If there was a HD diesel Tundra I would never have bought my Dodge. In my market the Chev and Ford were the ones that were problematic. The Dodge was the least reported issue one around here. had there been a diesel Tundra option, OH BABY! The lack of the diesel HD is the only reason I don't have one. I love those trucks.

I have been surprised not to see it yet. It has been available for industrial applications in the US since about 2007. It is a nice motor, and we never had any problems with them.

But, Toyota does not put them in Hino trucks for some reason (at least not the US) so that makes me skeptical they would consider it for a light truck instead of one of their road-proven inline 6-cyl diesels.
