To make things MORE clear, the 12V/Bosch "P" pump engine was installed thru the last day of 1997 for the 98 model year. The 24V engine was installed starting the first day of 1998 for the 98 model year also known as a 98.5. If you notice there have been many changes made on 1/1 thru out the years, EMISSIONS.
The 94 12V engines that were produced during and installed in 1993 did NOT have a Cat (not sure about CA). They did have a pipe installed where the Cat would start being placed on trucks built on 1/1/1994 and beyond. This pipe made it easy to install a "test pipe" in stead of the Cat.
Many thought the resonator was a Cat on the 24V trucks.
