Did we get a Lemon?

We purchased a brand new 2018 Rockwood ESP 1970 tent trailer 3 days ago. It was towed from dealership to our home (5mins away) when we we excited to open our new toy it wouldnโ€™t work on one corner. Looked underneath and this is what we see.

We had a brand new flagstaff 625d pup and had locked storage doors swing open and pierce holes in the body 1000 yards from dealer pickup. PDI done and locks checked. We knew right away that it was a piece of junk. Had entry doors fail on highway and gear fly out. Can you say frame flex!

It's too late now but, you learned the importance of inspecting a RV before it leaves the dealership.
Even a brand new unit can have problems.
Hopefully the dealer will make it right. Keep us updated on your situation.

I imagine they demo'd the unit before you took possession ?.....be careful, they may try to claim you attempted to raise the top while the one corner was latch causing it to break. Get it back ASAP.

Thats not wiring.....its essentially a long spring which is what raises the roof. There are 4 which are inside steel tubing and run from a center block to the lift posts. It looks like the tubing cracked where its attached to the center block. OP....do a search for "Goshen Lift system" or Goshen Stamping Company". Ive seen that more than once. Electric lift motor engaged without releasing the corner latch.

If your mechanically inclined probably an easy but PITA of a fix. Goshen used to be good about providong parts direct, dont know if that holds true today as its been a few years.

Did the dealer have the roof up and everything set up so you could test everything during your PDI?
Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Is that coil supposed to slide in and out of the tubes when the top is put up? If that's the case then maybe only thee guide that is broken needs to be replaced. But definitely should be inspected, get it back ASAP and ask they get you in immediately. They should have caught that during their inspection. Now its possibility a warranty repair, but hopefully they get right on it and that's all that's wrong.
