First liar does'nt stand a chance. I have studied ammount of fuel required to produce 1 HP energy so tell alll the lies you want. It is standard in an airplane, how can it be so different in a pickup truck?

Parasitic losses of the motor and friction... cetane of the diesel fuel vs higher pressure common rail diesel, while more efficient, waste more fuel with fuel being used to burn off carbon soot in the diesel particulate filter at about 1100 to 1165F. Wasted fuel and heat going right out your tailpipe not generating any forward motion. There's a lot of parameters to consider, including aromatic content of the diesel fuel you buy. Good stinky fuel is good steady state high calorie fuel, more mpg. Low aromatics burns with less soot, better in stop and go traffic, but lower in calories = less MPG. Lots and lots of variables... most common rails run best at 1350 to 1750-1800 rpm at whatever cruising speed you take. Try doing a pure 55 mph run in spring or fall without running the A/C and get back to us with your MPG and the rpms your motor runs at 55 mph.

Calamus' DuraMax is a 2003 - before the new diesel emission controls were put in place. The newer models with DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) and a DPF (diesel particular filter) don't do as well - especially when in "regenerate" mode. My 2013 2500 crew cab DuraMax gets about 13 MPG towing our 6,700# (max) TT at 65 MPH or less.

2012 F350 6.7PSD pulling a 35' Montana averaging 60mph 11-12 depending on wind and terrain. Just completed a 3000 mile round trip and averaged 13.5 overall, includes unhitched touring in the truck.

03 dodge/Cummins, towing chip, 4" exhaust, no cat or dpf (no emissions add ons on the early 03). Averged around 15mpg towing an 8000lb 5th wheel. Traded that for a much lighter Casita and have averaged over 20mpg on every trip with it. Towing in West Texas means mostly around 70mph (100mph rated LT tires on the Casita). Not towing, it will average 25mpg on a long haul. I think the Standard Output 03 Cummins was the most economical of the Cummins powered Dodges.

Truck in sig, heavily modified between exhaust, fuel management ect. 8600 lb trailer, never drive above 58mph, average mid 15's, although last trip down the coast hit low 16's.

06 Dodge 3500 5.9CTD with 38ft Keystone weighing appr. 9000lbs. Get 12-14 steady. With a nice SD tailwind I have seen as high as 17. Going the other direction I think it was 8-10.

Just did our first trip of any consequence with our WhiteHawk 27DSRL and '05 Ram 3500. Left home with a full tank of fuel and only 21 miles on the trip odo on that tank full. Arrived at Marianna in the Panhandle and needed fuel, filled up an calculated mileage came out to 10.6 ? :h Return trip home, same route and distance, fueled up after parking the trailer and mileage worked out to 12.6/gal. Trying to figure out why the difference.........:h

x2 pulling 15k, with a bunch of mods on engine and trans. Around 10 mpg but I was a 65+ mph driver.
