I have a small diesel TV, a Jeep Liberty CRD. Don't laugh, those of you with Great Big Honkin' A** Trucks, but it has a 2.8 liter 4 cylinder common rail engine.
I pull a small TT, a 21 foot Coachman that weighs around 3600 lbs empty, and "full" is usually in the 4500 lbs range. Worst mileage I've ever gotten was 9 mpg pulling into a 50 mph headwind in Oklahoma. Best has been 16, with my average just over 14. It must be noted that most of the fuel this rig uses is because of the wind resistance of dragging an 8x8 foot wall around. I used that TV to take a car on a dolly 400 miles a couple years ago -- very nearly the same weight as the TT, but MUCH more aerodynamic, and got almost 19 mpg.
