I filled the tanks on my four Cummins powered Rams well over 100 times. The best I could get at 70mph with any of them was 19-20mpg in sunny flat Florida. Folks stretch and skew the numbers. Diesels generally do better but I never saw the huge numbers that often get reported here. Nor have I seen the horrible mileage some folks report they "used to get" with their screaming red-lining gassers. The average person tells three lies a minute when his yak is running.:B
Your driving habits are why your not getting any better MPG. Keep your speed under 55 mph and you will see 23 mpg from that Cummins. Watch the road ahead, if you see a red light let the engine brake you, all fuel is cut off on a diesel when decelerating, saves the brakes as well. Guess you wouldn't believe me if I told you I got 65,000 miles out of my 1st set of brakes? I have no reason to fabricate a story believe it or not up to you.
I'm nearing 92,000mi and still have plenty of pad on the original set of brakes, avg. 125,000 to 170,000 on my last Dodge, both equipped with an exhaust brake.
