Do Cover Your Trailer During the Season?

We are getting a new trailer that won't fit in our barn door like the last one. So until I can build a new barn for it I was wondering if I should get a cover for it? What do you guys do during the camping season? Worries about the sun.
  • Just out of curiosity, how do you even cover something as big as a TT? Do you use a ladder or have to climb up on the roof to get it over the top?
  • Mine is never covered, year round. During camping season to cover it on Sunday or Monday just to uncover it Thurs or Friday would be too much.
  • RV Dealer in Central New York once told me "look at all the trailers on my lot, do you see a cover?"

I tend to agree, if you need a cover, you have bigger problems.
  • I've never covered mine at any time of year. It's parked on the north side of the house so it gets some protection from the sun.
  • A cover will protect it from the sun, but you are the only one that can answer the question of covering it during camping season. Depends on weather or not you want to spend the time and effort to do so. While not hard for me, people are different. If I leave mine uncovered, it gets dirty enough to have to wash it before using it. If you decide not to cover it, at least cover the tires. I did not cover between trips this year so far and I constantly have to spray off the roof as the trees are seeding and that stuff stains. Not to mention the green pollen from the pine trees and owl poop.

I'll add the inside temps are cooler when covered as mine is in the direct sun most of the day.
  • I only cover mine during the winter. Personally I don't believe RV's are built to handle the weather, especial UV and the more you can limit its exposure the longer before the graphics fade or peel.
  • Lots of previous discussion. Search this Forum for `RV Cover' and make up your own mind.
  • No cover on mine in the summer. I do put the tire covers on if it's going to be at home for an extended period of time in the driveway. It gets indoor storage in the winter.
  • I only cover mine during the winter for protection from ice from the trees I have to park under.
During the season? a waste of work IMO.
RVs are made to handle sun.
