Don't think any Challenger comes with IRS. I drove a '14 SRT w/6spd man when I went to pick up my Ram MegaDually CTD. No IRS but it broke traction in 1-4 gears 5th it squatted and stretched out, barely got into 6th before I had to shut her down.
The Hellcat is at $60k MSRP and that is with $1k gas guzzler tax.
The wife and I have agreed, the next new car SHALL be a Challenger. My first car at 15 yo was a '70 318/727 2bbl. It didn't stay that way;) I wish I still had it.

I beg to differ.

Allpar Challenger Rear Suspension

Rear suspension is a five link independent design with coil springs, gas charged monotube shocks, solid stabilizer bar, and isolated suspension cradle.

Not surprising as it is built on the same platform as the 300/Charger.

All Challengers produced from the 2000's onward are IRS equipped. The only modern muscle car that had a SRA was the Ford Mustang, which is gone in this newest upcoming generation. The challenger was originally based off of the LX platform which has continued to evolve over time. My first car (though I went to highschool in the 90's) was a 72 Plymouth Satellite Sebring+ coupe. With a 440 buried in there (had to put dents in the headers to clear the drive shaft). Surprised I'm still alive today.

My 70 454 Chevelle dusted many 440's. Challengers, Chargers, General Lee's, Mustangs, Nova's it didn't matter. Yes I'm surprised I'm alive too. :E

But this new Hellcat would be more than it could handle.

Read this morning that this car can burn 1.5 GPM, but still manage 20MPG on the highway.

Actually, that price is better than I was expecting. I looked at a 2014 Camaro Z28 two weeks ago that had a list price of $76,000, and it did not have 707 horsepower.

Seems in line with the other's MSRP at least with respect to the Ford GT500. Although you could not touch those for MSRP for awhile.

Agreed. The M5 won't win on a drag strip. It might win on a road course, depending on the course and will probably set you back at least 30K more than the Challenger.

The challenger I had for a couple weeks I thought was well thought out and hit all the design criteria for the modern "old muscle car". My only disappointment was the steering wheel. Looked like it came straight out of a Dakota.

The Hellcat would eat the BMW's lunch in a drag race. I wouldn't dismiss the Hellcat on a road course race either. :B

BTW... At least SRT didn't put a freakin dial shift knob on the car. :R

No but the Dodge boys put in a dash that has 477 buttons on it. I am not a big fan of the iDrive either as it get in the way of resting my arm on the console.

I really don't think the BMW M5 was the target vehicle when the SRT group developed the Challenger Hellcat. As far as I can tell, the Lamborghini Aventador and Bugatti Veyron were also not the target vehicles.

I'm glad your BMW M5 can outperform the Hellcat on twisting roads. But, the M5 is a totally different type of car. It is a real car, and the Challenger is also a real car. Try to be just a little bit positive here and enjoy the fact that you are able to own a vehicle of this caliber.

Just having some fun... I also Have a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 that has real trouble when the steering wheel gets turned in any direction other than straight ๐Ÿ˜„ Two completely different cars aimed at two completely different audiences and with two two completely different mission in mind.
