True enough. One of the "benefits" is supposed to be ease of cleaning (bugs, road grime, grease), no waxing etc. It is true I hate spending time doing those things - but honestly in the few years since we bought the last one, as you mentioned, this one has not taken any great toll.
In fact it cleans up quite nice - but with a fair amount of elbow grease....
