Very true. Here's a sweet little Land Rover diesel literally smoking a mighty Dodge Cummins. And yes, the Dodge is in 4WD, you can see tire smoke from the left front. Obviously the Rover has lockers and the Dodge open diffs.

The dodge is 2WD, look at 1:10-1:15. The right rear is smoking, and there is no movement or smoke from the front.
