Strange how this data point is called bashing by some. It paints an accurate picture however. Thing is, the ED would be pretty much maxed out payload wise with anything other than a reg cab, where as an F150 could still have 1000# payload left. - alexleblancExplorerall the Ram vs Ford BS aside, my original production run 2011 F150 Ecoboost is still going strong to this day, I sold it to my father in law in 2013 when I bought my F250 and he has not had an issue to date requiring warranty or parts replacement other than normal maintenance. It has 126k km's on it now, has driven through 5 of our winters that are brutal and towed 20k km's in my hands and probably another 15-20K in his. Fuel economy is good when unloaded, seems to still average around 16-17mpg and around 9-10mpg when towing, all the time using premium.
Ecoboost powertrain aside, the rest of the truck has aged very well and it still performs **** near like when I drove it off the lot, still very squeak and rattle free. Very impressed with it as it was my first of many ford products that I now own. - TurnThePageExplorer

I come to this forum to learn something and enjoy a diversion from the news in general and politics in particular. And what do we have? A reasonable post by the OP that after a couple pages turns into Ram vs. Ford that is about as pleasant and productive as the latest political name calling.
Let's all give it a rest, take a breath, step away from the keyboard. Life is good, other things are more important. There are several trucks out there to meet different needs and lets just leave it at that.
Good luck all,

Dang right. These small diesels are getting a lot of attention for their torque and MPG, but they are OLD DOGS in nearly every performance related aspect on the road when compared head to head with gas options in the same truck/SUV.
Edit: Yup...I got sucked into the battle vs posting to the OP question. That sucks. Might be time to shut this one down. - AlmostAnOldGuyExplorerI come to this forum to learn something and enjoy a diversion from the news in general and politics in particular. And what do we have? edit: Also worth mentioning is Ford sells almost twice as many trucks, though I'm not sure how many are half tons.
Wow... Looks like FCA's quality manager better drive the ship... Or perhaps quality gets the same priority as Ram upgrading their trucks to improve it's crash test performance, or taking it's recalls serious and not blow off it customers to the point the NHTSA had to slap the biggest fine in automotive history on Ram/FCA.
I wonder if the OP is interested in a Eco Diesel? :W- Perrysburg_DodgExplorerOMG you guys are funny, the man asked for information from "actual owners" so I directed him to the correct forum where maybe he could get some true information without all the back and forth BS that happens here.
If anyone cares to look at my very first post on this thread I never slammed the EB I answered a comment about Fords transmission castings and why they leak (any make for that matter) and even gave the EB some praise and made a comment about the fuel mileage and got slammed by the Blue Oval Mafia. So if you want a like children I'll play along.
Here is my very first post and would have been the last if you guys had played nice :BPerrysburg Dodgeboy AKA the CEO of the Ram Mafia wrote:
That is do to porosity in the casting. Most likely your case was one from a cold die at start up after a long week end or shutdown like Christmas break. The other cause is poor ventilation in the die itself. That is what Ford gets for going with Ryobi Die Casting.
As for the EB they have turned out to be very good engines, other than the poor fuel mileage over what Ford claimed they would make. You can have Eco or Boost but you can't have both! That would be why Ford is joining Ram and adding a diesel option to their F-150, fuel mileage nothing more nothing less.
Don
Spud1957, Yep the Ecodiesel had some issues with the 2014 trucks, some engines got out with improperly torqued #5 rods that has caused some engines to grenade leaving some customers on the side of the road. Not a good thing to happen and there have been some bought back mostly do to parts availability or lack there of. Most States have a 30 day limit that a vehicle can be in the shop (total over one year), after that it is classed as a lemon and has to be bought back. I had only heard of one 2015 with a blown engine but the owner has admitted to having double tunes and full deletes so that is on him.
As for Tory's comment "Anyways it's interesting Don is keeping a close eye on this thread" Hard not to when you keep asking "BTW... Where's Don? (aka perrsburgdodgeboy). " Love ya Man

That is pretty telling. When I'm flat footed on the throttle, MPG isn't in my mind, but each second that ticks by is like an eternity. - SamsonsworldExplorerComplaints Ram 1500
