Second season with an electric awning and same here - would not go back to manual for all the rice and ST tires in China.... It's sooo nice to just stand at our door, hold the button down and watch it go in/out in seconds.
I do worry about the wind damaging it. I could be wrong, but I think they are more susceptible to wind damage because they don't have the arms going down at a steep angle like on the manual ones which brace it better. We were near Spokane in August and there was an emergency short notice, high wind alert on the radio while we were out sightseeing. We were able to get back and bring the awning in before the storm rolled in otherwise we could have lost it.
Another time we were camping next to the Pacific ocean and the wind was blowing non-stop every day. Some folks had their manual awnings out and anchored to the ground. Nobody with electric ones ever had them out. You can't anchor the electric ones down like the manual ones.
I think it's the Colorado electric awnings that have an optional wind sensor that closes it automatically when the wind picks up.
